BYB Mission

The mission of Bluegrass Youth Ballet is to enhance lives by providing dance education in a positive environment for all youth through high quality training, innovative performances, and cultural experiences.

Slide 2

Benefits of Dance

Dancers have a better understanding of their bodies, and they will gain better stamina, body control, and muscle tone. Dance increases coordination and improves musicality.

Slide 3

Discipline & Self-Respect

At BYB, dancers of all ages will be taught to interact and respect themselves, as well as other dancers, and their instructors. These are skills that are essential for life!

Slide 4

Commitment & Work

Bluegrass Youth Ballet students learn to work as part of one body, and to discover their potential as individual performers and artists.

Slide 5

Education & Culture

Bluegrass Youth Ballet's innovative performances incorporate cultures, and teach both dancers and audiences about their world.

BYB Performances

'Dia de los Muertos' is Bluegrass Youth Ballet's hallmark production exploring the beautiful celebration of life and death during the Mexican holiday of the same name - or, as it is translated, Day of the Dead. An original ballet of BYB, 'Dia de los Muertos' includes a short narrative of the holiday from its roots with the ancient Aztecs through modern day in both Spanish and English. BYB is excited to bring this work back in the 2015-2016 Season on November 6, 7pm, and November 7, 3pm, at the Lexington Opera House in downtown Lexington, Kentucky.
