START YOUR SPRING BREAK BY GOING UNDER THE SEA WITH BYB FOR OUR PERFORMANCES OF THE LITTLE MERMAID
BYB presents The Little Mermaid on Friday, March 31 at 7pm and Saturday, April 1 at 2pm at the Lexington Opera House. Tickets are $15-$18 and may be purchased in person at the Lexington Center box office, by phone at 859.233.3535, or online at www.ticketmaster.com. Group tickets are available at a discount.
More than 130 young dancers will bring a mythical underwater seascape to life in the story of a mermaid longing to be human. Featuring senior BYB dancer Lilia Thomas as the Little Mermaid, former Cincinnati Ballet dancer Sam Jones, as the Prince, and senior BYB dancer Katie Simon as the Evil Sea Witch Assistant who tries to steal the prince from the Little Mermaid, this epic visual adaptation will leave you breathless. In addition to the lead characters, the story comes to life with a host of underwater creatures including puppets and dancers as dolphins, sea dragon, jellyfish, clownfish, crabs, seahorses, starfish, as well as some evil lion fish, eels and creatures of light.
Founder and Artistic Director, Adalhi Aranda developed the stunning ballet based on Hans Christian Anderson’s written version and cites the BBC nature documentary “Blue Planet” as an inspiration for the underwater realm. Audience will love the “twist” at the end and will enjoy the narration in both English and Spanish.
Join BYB immediately following the Saturday performance for an “Under the Sea” Tea Party. Held in Pardy’s Pub downstairs of the Lexington Opera House, attendees will enjoy tea and cookies while meeting and interacting with The Little Mermaid cast members. Tickets are $8/person. Seating is limited. Tea party tickets are available at the Lexington Center box office, by calling 859.233.3535 or online at www.ticketmaster.com (the option to purchase tea party tickets will come up after you choose your performance seats).
