Summer Intensives
Current BYB Students Pre-Ballet 2 and up are eligible for BYB’s Summer Intensive. Non-BYB students with previous ballet training ages 8 and up contact enrollment@bluegrassyouthballet.org to schedule a placement evaluation for our Summer Intensive programs. BYB welcomes males and females with a strong ballet background, who have a great love for dance, and who are not afraid to push themselves to the next level in a healthy and positive environment. Spots will be filled on a first-come-first-served basis. BYB reserves the right to adjust a student’s class placement if necessary at any given time. Tuition fees are non-refundable except for documented cases of extreme illness/injury. Our faculty includes our current faculty as well as guest teachers. An informational email that consists of the dress code, our studio policies, and weekly intensive schedules will be sent to all registered dancers before the beginning of intensives.
BYB Summer Faculty

Florrie Sésé Geller
Florrie Sésé Geller began her pre-professional training with legendary Marcia Dale Weary and the
faculty of Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet. She continued her education at Next Generation
Ballet with Yvonne Lemus and directors Peter Stark and Philip Neal, as well as summer programs
at the School of American Ballet and San Francisco Ballet School on full tuition scholarship. After
winning the gold medal at the Youth America Grand Prix Semi-Finals, Florrie distinguished herself
by placing in the Top 12 Junior Women at the Final Round of YAGP at Lincoln Center and was
selected by Susan Jaffe and Gillian Murphy as the first recipient of the Gillian Murphy Endowed
Scholarship to UNCSA. After performing Aurora and Giselle in Next Generation Ballet’s full-length
productions, Florrie completed her pre-professional training at San Francisco Ballet School on full
scholarship, under the tutelage of Sofiane Sylve and Tina Le Blanc.
At the age of eighteen Florrie was offered a professional contract with Cincinnati Ballet’s main
company while continuing her training with celebrated master teacher, Wilhelm Burmann. At
Cincinnati Ballet, Florrie performed Princess Florine in Devon Carney’s The Sleeping Beauty, a
solo role in Jiri Kylian’s Sechs Tanze, Virginia Woolf in Sarah Van Patten’s Skylight, Cygnet in Kirk
Peterson’s Swan Lake, and a soloist role in Myles Thatcher’s Anomaly. Florrie also danced in
ballets by Adam Hougland, Victoria Morgan, and Septime Webre.
In 2019, Florrie was invited to represent the United States at the Beijing International Ballet and
Choreographic Competition.
Florrie performed the Black Swan pas de deux from Swan Lake with Rochester City Ballet and
originated the role of Arsinoe in Terpsicorps Theatre of Dance’s world premiere Cleopatra. She
has appeared in galas including YAGP’s Stars of Today Meet the Stars of Tomorrow, and Florida
Classical Ballet’s Summer Gala. Most recently she danced with Oakland Ballet Company in the
premiere gala of Misty Copeland’s short film Flower, and works by Graham Lustig, Phil Chan,
Natasha Adorlee and Ye Feng in premier works for the Angel Island Project.
Florrie is a certified instructor in various training modalities including Progressing Ballet
Technique and mat pilates. She has taught ballet on the faculties of Cincinnati Ballet’s Otto M.
Budig Academy, Magaly Suarez’s The Art of Classical Ballet, and the Draper Center for Dance
Education and is certified for level 1 of Escuela Nacional de Ballet de Cuba’s training
methodology.
She has been featured in Dance Spirit Magazine’s “Dancer You Should Know,” the podcasts
Becoming Ballet, Dancer Talks, and most recently Dance Magazine’s “Pack it up: moving for
your dance career.”
Florrie will be performing once again this summer with Terpsicorps Theatre of Dance, and
joining Sacramento Ballet for its 24-25 season.

René Micheo
Rene Micheo isn’t merely a name in the dance world – it’s synonymous with artistic vision and unwavering dedication. His journey began in the USA as a Principal Dancer and Ballet Master with the prestigious Cincinnati Ballet, and other dance companies in Europe and Latino America. His keen eye for detail and meticulous direction shaped countless performances, ensuring flawless execution and captivating audiences. Further solidifying his expertise, Rene honed his craft as a regisseur, meticulously overseeing productions and guaranteeing seamless execution.
Rene‘s passion for dance extends far beyond the professional stage. As the owner of a dance studio, he fosters the talents of aspiring dancers, instilling a love for movement and a strong foundation in technique. His commitment to nurturing the next generation extends to capturing their artistry through his photography. He has become a fixture at the Bluegrass Youth Ballet, where his stunning studio and performance portraits document their dedication and grace, preserving their journey in dance.
Rene‘s creative spirit doesn’t stop there. As a choreographer for the esteemed School for Creative and Performing Arts (SCPA), he collaborates with students, crafting captivating pieces that ignite the stage and showcase their artistry among other dance studios in the area.
Adding another dimension to his expertise, Rene is the IT Director for HER Cincinnati (Housing, Education, and Rehabilitation) at the Anna Louise Inn.

Jacqui Haas
Jacqui Haas recently retired as Performing Arts Medicine program manager for Mercy Health at Cincinnati Ballet. She is a former professional ballet dancer, having danced with Cincinnati Ballet, New Orleans City Ballet, Cleveland Ballet, and Southern Ballet Theatre, and was an apprentice with Boston Ballet. Jacqui has a BA in Dance from the University of South Florida, and her Athletic Training certificate through the University of Cincinnati. She is currently working on her Masters degree here at NKU. Ms. Haas has certifications in Pilates instruction from St. Francis Memorial Hospital in San Francisco and Pilates for Rehabilitation from Polestar Education in Miami. Jacqui is proud to be the author of two editions of “Dance Anatomy”, Human Kinetics publications. She is a member of the International Association of Dance Medicine and Science, the National Athletic Trainers Association, and the National Dance Educators Organization.

Lauren Tenney
A native of Temperance, Michigan, Lauren Tenney began her training under Nigel Burgoine at the Ballet Theatre of Toledo. She continued her professional ballet training with Nutmeg Conservatory of the Arts, earning the Dona Neri Award for outstanding achievement, and Ellison Ballet Professional Training Program, where she trained on scholarship and received awards and recognition from the prestigious competition, Youth America Grand Prix.
Ms. Tenney started her professional ballet career with Lexington Ballet and later joined Rochester City Ballet, where she excelled in classical and contemporary ballet.
Alongside her professional career, Ms. Tenney has been on faculty with Lexington Ballet School, Draper Center for Dance Education, Hochstein School of Music and Dance. She currently teaches at Cary Ballet Conservatory in Cary, North Carolina.
In addition, she served as Trainee Director of the New York State Ballet. Under her leadership and guidance, her students gained recognition and received awards at Youth America Grand Prix and World Ballet Competition.
