Summer Intensives
Current BYB Students Pre-Ballet 2 and up are eligible for BYB’s Summer Intensive. Non-BYB students with previous ballet training ages 8 and up contact enrollment@bluegrassyouthballet.org to schedule a placement evaluation for our Summer Intensive programs. BYB welcomes males and females with a strong ballet background, who have a great love for dance, and who are not afraid to push themselves to the next level in a healthy and positive environment. Spots will be filled on a first-come-first-served basis. BYB reserves the right to adjust a student’s class placement if necessary at any given time. Tuition fees are non-refundable except for documented cases of extreme illness/injury. Our faculty includes our current faculty as well as guest teachers. An informational email that consists of the dress code, our studio policies, and weekly intensive schedules will be sent to all registered dancers before the beginning of intensives.

Rene Micheo
Rene Micheo isn’t merely a name in the dance world – it’s synonymous with artistic vision and unwavering dedication. His journey began in the USA as a Principal Dancer and Ballet Master with the prestigious Cincinnati Ballet, and other dance companies in Europe and Latino America. His keen eye for detail and meticulous direction shaped countless performances, ensuring flawless execution and captivating audiences. Further solidifying his expertise, Rene honed his craft as a regisseur, meticulously overseeing productions and guaranteeing seamless execution.
Rene‘s passion for dance extends far beyond the professional stage. As the owner of a dance studio, he fosters the talents of aspiring dancers, instilling a love for movement and a strong foundation in technique. His commitment to nurturing the next generation extends to capturing their artistry through his photography. He has become a fixture at the Bluegrass Youth Ballet, where his stunning studio and performance portraits document their dedication and grace, preserving their journey in dance.
Rene‘s creative spirit doesn’t stop there. As a choreographer for the esteemed School for Creative and Performing Arts (SCPA), he collaborates with students, crafting captivating pieces that ignite the stage and showcase their artistry among other dance studios in the area.
Adding another dimension to his expertise, Rene is the IT Director for HER Cincinnati (Housing, Education, and Rehabilitation) at the Anna Louise Inn.

Claudia Monja
Claudia Monja was born in Havana, Cuba. At age 3, she began practicing rhythmic gymnastics, which she did until beginning her ballet studies at age 9. After studying at the Elemental Ballet School and the Cuban National Ballet School, she began her professional career with the Cuban National Ballet. Shortly after, she joined the Ballet de Camagüey, where she performed as a soloist for six years.
In 2012, she became a Principal Dancer with Joburg Ballet in South Africa, where she performed works like Giselle, Don Quixote, The Nutcracker, La Traviata, Spring Waters, Flames of Paris, and Gamzatti. She has worked with choreographers such as Redha Benteifour and Corey Baker and has danced in internal tours to Italy, Ecuador, Colombia, and China and credit these experiences to her growth as an artist. She is currently a Principal Dancer at Nashville Ballet.
Monja is passionate about empowering youth and exposing them to the beauty of ballet. In addition to dancing on stage, she has worked as a ballet instructor, composed her own productions, and both prepared and judged students in competitive competitions.

Jayson Douglas
Jayson Douglas is from Paterson, NJ where he began training at Dance World Academy. He continued training at Steps on Broadway, BDC, and The Ailey School. Jayson also attended Point Park University as a dance major. While there, he also attended summer programs at Dance Place, Orlando Ballet 2, and Boston Ballet, all on full scholarships. Jayson’s professional career began as a Trainee with NCDT, now known as Charlotte Ballet. Jayson then went on to dance for Lexington Ballet, Ballet Theatre of Maryland, Ballet Nouveau Colorado, and one of the top 25 to watch companies named in Dance Magazine, Company C Contemporary Ballet; he was featured in Twyla Tharp’s “Surfer in the Styx.” He has also performed worldwide on cruise lines as a dancer and aerialist. He is a resident choreographer with MidState Ballet, Sarah Berges Dance, and teaches masterclasses nationwide and internationally. In April 2014, he toured Paris, France, with Sarah Berges Dance. He is currently on his 2nd season dancing with James Sewell Ballet and will be touring with the company in December to perform in the Cannes Dance Festival in Cannes, France.
He is also on faculty at Larkin Dance Studio and Saint Paul Ballet Academy, along with guest teaching throughout the country.
