What is TAP?
At BYB, tap doesn’t mean wearing fun shoes that make tappy, rhythmic noises. TAP means TUITION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM.
As you know, BYB tries to keep tuition costs low, but extracurricular activities can be expensive. BYB has many expenses, including rent, salaries, health insurance for our full-time employees, taxes, utilities, and administrative fees. We want to allow every child to dance and open up opportunities that would otherwise not be available, so we created the Tuition Assistance Program to help remove financial barriers for families struggling to pay full tuition.
Every year, we write grants and create fundraisers to help offset the $30,000+ that BYB subsidies. The need is larger than the funds we receive. Regardless, we are committed to providing this opportunity to families because we firmly believe that every child deserves to dance if they want to, irrespective of their financial situation.
Parents interested in being part of TAP, fill out the application form and submit it.
The TAP committee reviews this information, and based on the federal poverty guidelines, we offer a discounted percentage of the total tuition. In exchange for this discount, we ask parents (or older students) to volunteer in many tasks needed at BYB every week, such as cleaning, organizing, shopping, assisting in classes, sewing, working in our boutique, or others. It is a cooperative effort.
These discounts do not apply to shirts, DVDs, or performance-related fees, only tuition.
If you are interested, please read the requirements and fill out the application BEFORE JUNE 30 to be considered for the entire year. (We will consider late applications, so please apply!)
